Cruise Arrival Statistics
The cruise sector in Trinidad and Tobago continues to be volatile in nature. After peaking in 2007, cruise passenger arrivals dipped by 37,388 passengers in 2008, only to spike again in 2009 to an estimated 114,763 passengers only to be followed by a drop over the period 2010 to 2013. However, the cruise sector in Trinidad and Tobago appears to be on an upswing since 2014.
In 2015 there has been a vast improvement in the number of cruise passenger arrivals to the country when compared to the previous year. This was due primarily to the significant increase in arrivals to Tobago, which was more than three times the number of cruise passengers that visited Tobago during 2014. Although not as significant as Tobago’s numbers, Trinidad also had an increase in cruise passengers of 13%. On the whole, Trinidad and Tobago saw an increase of 135% in 2015 compared with 2014, amounting to 79,317 cruise visitors.
